Privacy Policy

We believe privacy is a right, not a feature. Here is exactly how we handle your data — clearly, completely, and honestly.

Effective: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Wenttt ("Wenttt", "we", "us", or "our"), an online platform operated by an independent developer, collects, uses, stores, and discloses information about you when you use the Wenttt mobile application and website (collectively, the "Platform"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

We use the terms "user", "you", and "your" to mean any person who accesses or uses the Platform. This Privacy Policy does not apply to information you provide directly to other users, hosts, or third parties through the Platform.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at [email protected].

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways: information you provide to us directly, information we collect automatically when you use the Platform, and information we receive from third-party services.

1.1 Information You Provide to Us

When you create an account or use the Platform, you may provide us with the following information:

  • Account Information: Your Indian mobile phone number (+91), which we use to verify your identity via OTP. Your name, as you choose to provide it. You may also optionally provide an email address and gender as part of your account profile.
  • Profile Information: A profile photo (optional) and your Instagram handle (optional). All optional profile fields are stored only if you choose to provide them.
  • Event Information: When hosting events, you provide an event title, description, date, time, location (including venue name, address, and geographic coordinates), images, and capacity. This information is stored and displayed to other users on the Platform for the purposes of event discovery and participation.
  • Interests and Preferences: You may select interests, categories, and tags as part of your profile or during event discovery. This information is stored and used to personalise event recommendations, improve the relevance of content shown to you, and help match you with events and communities that align with your preferences.
  • Communications: Messages you send in event group chats. These are visible only to the host and approved attendees of the relevant event. Event chats are intended for coordination among event participants and may be closed after an event concludes, at which point users may no longer be able to send new messages.
  • Join Requests: When you request to join an event, we collect your request and the host's approval or rejection decision.
  • Ratings and Reviews: Ratings you give to hosts, guests, or events after participating in them.
  • Support Communications: Any information you provide when contacting us for support.

1.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you use the Platform, we automatically collect the following information:

  • Device Information: Your device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Log Information: Information about your use of the Platform, including the time, duration, and frequency of access, features you use, screens you view, and crash reports.
  • Location Information: With your permission, we collect your device's location to show you nearby events. You may disable location access at any time through your device settings. If you disable location access, event discovery features may be limited. Wenttt does not continuously track your location in the background and only accesses location information when required for location-based features and when permission has been granted by you.
  • Push Notification Data: Information about whether you have received and interacted with push notifications sent to your device. To deliver notifications, a device-specific notification token may be stored and processed by our notification systems and service providers.
  • Usage and Analytics Data: Information about how you interact with the Platform, such as which events you view, how long you spend on the app, and which features you use most frequently. This data is collected in aggregated or pseudonymised form where possible.

1.3 Information From Third-Party Services

If you choose to link your Instagram account by providing your Instagram handle, this information is stored on your profile and visible to hosts reviewing your join request. We do not access your Instagram account directly or collect any data from Instagram.

We do not currently offer social media login. If we add this feature in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following circumstances:

3.1 With Other Users on the Platform

  • Your profile (name, photo, ratings, and Instagram handle if provided) is visible to hosts when you request to join their event, and to other approved attendees of events you participate in.
  • Events you host (title, description, date, time, location, images, and capacity) are visible to all users browsing the Platform.
  • Chat messages you send in an event group chat are visible to the host and all approved attendees of that event.
  • Ratings you receive as a host or guest may be visible to other users as part of the trust and reputation system. Ratings and reputation scores may be displayed to other users as part of Wenttt's trust, safety, and community reputation features.
  • Shared Event Links: Events may be shared through public links generated by users (for example, wenttt.com/e/{eventId}). Information associated with the event, such as the title, description, date, time, location, images, and host information, may be visible to individuals who receive the shared link, including people who do not currently use the app. Shared links may contain identifiers that help Wenttt understand how users discover events, how shared content is accessed, and general event-sharing activity. This information may be used for analytics, service improvement, and event discovery insights. We do not control how recipients further share event links once those links have been shared outside the Platform.
  • User-Generated Content: Information you voluntarily post to the Platform, including event descriptions, event images, profile information, ratings, and chat messages, may be visible to other users according to the functionality of the Platform.

3.2 With Service Providers

We share information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate and improve the Platform. These providers process your data only on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it. Our key service provider is Google Firebase. See Section 4 for full details.

3.3 For Legal Compliance and Safety

We may disclose your information to government authorities, law enforcement agencies, or other third parties if we believe disclosure is required by applicable law, court order, or legal process, or if we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wenttt, our users, or the public.

3.4 Business Transfers

If Wenttt is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your information.

3.5 With Your Consent

We may share your information with third parties when you give us your explicit consent to do so.

3.6 Aggregated or De-identified Data

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. This data is not subject to this Privacy Policy.

4. Firebase and Third-Party Services

Wenttt is built on Google Firebase, a platform provided by Google LLC. The following Firebase services are used on our Platform and involve the processing of your personal data:

  • Firebase Authentication: Used to verify your identity via phone number OTP. Your phone number is stored securely by Firebase to enable login.
  • Cloud Firestore: Our primary database. Stores user profiles, events, join requests, chat messages, and ratings.
  • Firebase Storage: Stores profile photos and event images that you upload.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Delivers push notifications to your device for join requests, approvals, rejections, and chat messages.
  • Firebase Analytics (GA4): Collects information about how users interact with the Platform. This includes events such as account creation, event creation, event views, event sharing, join requests, chat usage, and screen navigation. This information helps us understand user behaviour, measure feature adoption, and improve the Platform experience. Analytics data is associated with a device identifier and is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy practices.
  • Firebase Crashlytics: Automatically collects crash reports and technical error data to help us identify and fix bugs quickly.
  • Firebase Cloud Functions: Server-side logic that powers notifications and automated platform operations.

Data processed through Firebase is subject to Google's privacy and security practices. Firebase stores data on Google's infrastructure. For more information, visit firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

We do not use any advertising networks, third-party tracking pixels, or data brokers on the Platform.

5. Data Storage and Retention

5.1 Where Your Data is Stored

Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure. Firebase may store data on servers located outside India. By using Wenttt, you consent to the transfer and storage of your information on these servers, which are protected by Google's security standards.

5.2 How Long We Retain Your Data

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Platform. Specific retention periods are as follows:

  • Account and profile data: Retained for the lifetime of your account. Deleted within 30 days of the expiry of the account recovery period following deletion.
  • Event records: Event information, including event details, join requests, event ratings, and event-related content, may be retained for approximately 90 days after an event concludes, after which it may be deleted or anonymised.
  • Event chat messages: Event chat communications may be retained for approximately 90 days after an event concludes. Event chats may be closed once an event has ended, after which participants may no longer be able to send new messages. Chat data may then be deleted or anonymised when no longer required.
  • Ratings and reviews: Retained as part of your profile history. Deleted when your account is deleted.
  • Safety and moderation records: Information associated with user reports, moderation actions, and safety investigations may be retained as necessary to enforce platform rules, prevent abuse, and protect users.
  • Crash logs and analytics: Retained for operational and diagnostic purposes, then anonymised or deleted when no longer required.
  • Support communications: Retained for up to 2 years to help us resolve disputes and improve our support quality.

We may retain certain data for longer periods where required by law, or where we have a legitimate interest in doing so, such as preventing fraud or abuse.

6. Your Choices and Controls

6.1 Account Information

You can update your profile information — including your name, profile photo, Instagram handle, email address, gender, and interest preferences — at any time within the app. If you wish to correct information that cannot be updated through the app, please contact us at [email protected].

6.2 Location Access

You can enable or disable location access for Wenttt at any time through your device settings (Settings → Apps → Wenttt → Permissions → Location). If you disable location access, event discovery features that rely on your location may not function correctly.

6.3 Push Notifications

You can enable or disable push notifications from Wenttt at any time through your device settings (Settings → Apps → Wenttt → Notifications). Note that disabling notifications means you will not receive alerts for join requests, approvals, or chat messages.

6.4 Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data directly from within the Wenttt application. Account deletion is also available by contacting us at [email protected].

When you request account deletion, your account will enter a 30-day recovery period. During this period, your account data may be retained and you may choose to restore your account. After the 30-day recovery period expires, your account and associated personal data will be permanently deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

Certain information may be retained after deletion where required by law, or for fraud prevention, safety, security, or platform integrity purposes, as described in Section 5.

7. Your Data Rights

We respect your rights over your personal data. Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data about you.
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Portability: Request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection: Object to our processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
  • Restriction: Request that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
  • Withdrawal of Consent: Where we process your data based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected] with your request. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your data rights. However, certain features of the Platform may no longer be available to you if you withdraw consent or request deletion of data that is essential to the Platform's operation.

8. Children's Privacy

Wenttt is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you are under 18, please do not use the Platform or provide any personal information to us.

If we become aware that a user under the age of 18 has created an account, we will promptly delete the account and all associated data. If you believe a minor has created an account on Wenttt, please notify us at [email protected].

9. Security

We take the security of your personal data seriously and implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Our security measures include:

  • Phone number OTP-based authentication — no passwords to compromise
  • Firestore security rules that restrict data access based on user authentication and role
  • Firebase Storage security rules that prevent unauthorised access to uploaded files
  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between the app and our servers
  • Firebase's built-in infrastructure security, including encryption at rest
  • Restricted access to production systems and user data within our team

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of any security issue related to the Platform, please notify us immediately at [email protected].

You are responsible for keeping your device secure. We recommend using a strong device PIN or biometric lock, and logging out of the app if you share your device with others.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our Platform, legal requirements, or business practices. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page.

For material changes — changes that significantly affect your rights or how we use your data — we will notify you through the app or via a push notification before the changes take effect. We may also display a prominent notice within the app.

Your continued use of Wenttt after the updated Privacy Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the updated policy, you should stop using the Platform and may request deletion of your account.
